Lab created, or CVD diamonds, are becoming one of the most popular diamonds for engagement rings today. This is due to their beautiful brilliance, affordability, and because they are eco friendly and conflict free. But what exactly is a CVD diamond, and how is it made? Here are answers to questions, and the top reasons why you should consider purchasing a CVD diamond.
What Are CVD Diamonds?
“CVD” stands for Chemical Vapor Deposition. These are man made diamonds that have many of the physical, and chemical, properties of a natural diamond. This includes actual carbon atoms and the crystal structure. CVD diamonds are made in a controlled environment, and are processed in a controlled laboratory by taking hydrogen gas and mixing it with other elements which causes a chemical reaction which produces these diamonds.
Ethical and Conflict Free
Since CVD, or lab created diamonds, are produced in lab controlled environment they are guaranteed ethical and conflict free.
CVD diamonds have most of the properties of natural diamonds made by Mother Nature. They have beautiful dispersion, and the brilliancy of a diamond. Lab diamonds are produced in a high temperature environment which produces carbon atoms with the exact structure as a diamond.
CVD Diamond Shapes:
CVD diamonds come in all shapes, including round cut, pear shape, marquis shape and the (ever popular) cushion and oval cut.
In many cases, when you purchase a CVD diamond, you will be able to save 20 to 40 % less than natural diamonds, and best of all, you will not be able to tell the difference!
Beautiful tennis bracelets, diamond pendants, and classic stud earrings are becoming one the top selling pieces of jewelry for CVD diamonds.
