One fancy shape diamond that is making a big comeback is the marquise cut. A Marquise shape diamond is simply a long diamond that comes to two points, and has the faceting of a round brilliant cut with 58 facets. This lovely shape made its debut centuries ago, as the navette cut. A Navette cut is a marquise shape, with an open culet. It was used many times as a center diamond for beautiful Art Deco engagement rings. As master diamond cutters became more sophisticated, they learned how to close the culet and the marquise cut was born! The marquise became the "go to" shape for women in the 1960's and 1970's. If you didn't have a marquise shape, pear shape, or square cut then you really weren't wearing a diamond. As the 1980's emerged, the marquise shape became less popular. Today, see a resurgence in women wearing this wonderful fancy shape. Here are four stunning marquise engagement rings .

Pear cut engagement rings are stunning. According to our sources, they are making a comeback in Hollywood! We all know that when the public sees a Hollywood star (such as Victorian Beckham) wearing a specific diamond shape, the public will want to wear that same diamond. Ever since Dick Burton gave a 69.00 carat pear shape engagement ring to Liz Taylor, the pear shape diamond world has never been the same! A pear cut diamond is a fancy shape diamond that's circular on one end, yet comes to a point on the other end. It has the faceting of a round cut diamond, with 58 facets, and gives off alot of brilliance and dispersion. Pear shape diamonds should have a 1.30 to 1.65 mm's ratio. We love pear cut diamonds! Who wouldn't want what Ms. Taylor loved! So lets say thanks to Liz and Richard, while we view four gorgeous pear cut engagement rings!
